G7 jazz guitar lick | Half-diminished arpeggio
In this dominant jazz guitar lick lesson we will see how to use an half diminished arpeggio over a G dominant 7th chord. This jazz guitar line starts with the minor third of G (Bb) this is a passing tone. It's a common way to start a solo. Then the four following notes are a Bm7b5 arpeggio (B minor 7 flat five). Remember that the half diminished (m7b5) arpeggio intervals are : 1-b3-b5-b7. In the example the Bm7b5 arpeggio notes are : B-D-F-A. The other notes come from the G mixolydian mode with some chromatic lines added.
Don't forget to play this lick in twelve keys. You have to develop this line by varying the fingering, adding notes and fretted-hand techniques. This is just a working base.
