Grant Green jazz guitar lesson | Grantstand solo transcription
This is a jazz guitar solo transcription with tabs (only 16 bars) of Grantstand from Grant Green's third album.
Here is the chord progression :
F9 | % | % | % |
Bbm7 | % | % | %|
Abm7 | % | Gm7 | C7
FM7 | D7 | Gm7 | C7
This chord progression is very interesting because of its major II-V-I sequence in bars 11-12-13 (Gm7|C7|FM7) and the famous turnaround I-VI-II-V (FM7|D7|Gm7|C7) on bars 14-15-16-17 often used in jazz standards.
All the fingerings are suggested. Once you have learnt these jazz lines you must try to change notes, vary the fingering, add fretting-hand effects (Hammer-ons, pull-offs, bends, slides, vibratos) and find some new musical ideas by inspiring you to these licks.
Remember that it is simply a working basis, you have to develop these lines.
