II-V jazz guitar lick | minor seventh arpeggio | Jazz guitar lesson with tab.
Here is an easy short jazz guitar lick to play over a II-V sequence (Dm7 | G7).
This lesson is about a jazz line containing a descending D minor 7th arpeggio starting on the second note of the triplet (A) which is the fifth of this arpeggio with a chromatic line (four notes) on beats 1 & 2.
Remember that the D minor 7th arpeggio is made up of only 4 notes :
- Root (D)
- minor third (b3) (F)
- Perfect fifth (5) (A)
- minor seventh (b7 (C)
This is a Dm7 chord whose notes are played one at a time.
Be sure to play this jazz line in different keys and make it evolve by changing rhythm and notes, by adding fret-hand techniques. The aim of theses lessons is to teach the basics to help you improvise. Learn this line, play it a lot, and forget it. Over time, it will naturally appear in your playing. Do not become a "lick player".
