So I was reading the given 9th chord voicings on the following page:
https://www.jazz-guitar-licks.com/pages/chords/dominant-ninth-guitar-chords.html
I am curious, in terms of self accompaniment (not ensemble,) is there a reason why the inversions for the "basic shapes" are not given? I was under the impression when playing by yourself you shouldnt drop out the root. Is this an incorrect presumption?

No particular reasons...when playing alone or to accompany a singer or a soloist it is better to keep the root...it is up to you to decide to play (or not to play) the root, it depends on the context.
