Construction
It can be constructed in two ways :
One with including a perfect fifth (5), giving the interval formula : Tonic (1), major third (3), augmented fourth (#4), perfect fifth (5), minor seventh (b7).
One without the fifth but with a ninth (9) giving the interval pattern : Tonic (1), second (2), major third (3), augmented fourth (#4), minor seventh (b7).
The charts below show the two interval formulas to build the Lydian dominant pentatonic scale.
Notice that the tonic (1), third (3) and minor seventh (b7) are present in the two versions.
It is important not to confuse it with the Lydian pentatonic scale which is made of : Tonic (1) 2 (major second), 3 (major third), #4 (augmented fourth), 6 (major sixth).
