Major 7 Sharp Five Chords (Maj7#5) - Diagrams and Voicing Charts

What is a Major 7#5 Chord?

This lesson is about the Major 7#5 chord. As its name implies, it is simply a major 7th chord with the fifth raised by a semitone (#5). It is built with a root (1), a major third (3), a sharp fifth (#5) and a major seventh (7). This kind of chord can be played in place of any major 7th chord and can be interesting when you want to add a little bit of tension to your playing.
