The Insen Scale - Formula Charts And Guitar Patterns

The Insen scale is another Japanese pentatonic scale, commonly used in traditional music and also popular in jazz fusion, especially when evoking an "Eastern" sound.

Construction

The Insen Scale or In Sen, is a Japanese scale made of five notes (pentatonic) organized this way : 1 (tonic), b2 (minor second), 4 (fourth), 5 (fifth) and b7 (minor seventh).

It should not be confused with the "In scale" built with 1, b2 (b9), 4 (11), 5, b6 (b13).
