It is one of the seven musical modes, and it is the second mode of the major scale.
It is characterized by a natural minor sound with a major sixth degree.

The double Dorian bebop scale is actually based on the Dorian mode.
It includes an extra note (b2) between the tonic (1) and the major second (2):
Giving the following interval formula :
Tonic (1), minor second (b2), major second (2), minor third (b3), perfect fourth (4), perfect fifth (5), major sixth (6), minor seventh (â™7).
